Baking On the Brain

Today I can't shake the want to bake (paleo). Cookies, muffins, breads; whatever baking items comes across my path on Pinterest I want to bake it. If you were to go and check my "cook" board, it has double in size today just from sweets alone. So I think tonight and this weekend call for baking. Here are a few that have my fancy and my taste buds.

1) Snicker doodles: My friend made some paleo snicker doodles on Monday for The Bachelorette finale and they were tas-tay. Something about cinnamon just puts me in a good mood. I can taste these now...

2) Brownies/Blondies: Would you look at these?! Hello! They are screaming, "Bake me!" Every now and again I will go by PaleOMG's blog and play catch up and these brownies/blondies caught my eye. They look so gooey and delicious and a must.

3) Lemon bars: These are Mike's favorite. For our wedding, we didn't get in a groom's cake, but instead made a dessert table with lemon bars and the main focus. I love the crust/citrus combination and this recipe has clean ingredients!

I should probably stop there before I go crazy. I am going to have way too much fun testing these out. I don't think Mike will complain:)

Ramblings

Mike and I finally finished The Office this past weekend after months of putting it off. We knew it would make us depressed so we took a break right before Michael left. Let's just say: the ending was perfect, I cried a lot, great one-liners, and I love Jim and Pam. Mike and I think this is the year that we transform into them for Halloween.

To help me come out of my depression, we will be watching The Bachelorette finale tonight. I will probably slide right back into my pit if she doesn't choose Shawn. She already let go of Ben H. and I just don't know if my heart can take another one of my favorites being sent home. I have kept away from all of the "spoiler" sites until now, so I really hope its not Nick. Blah. The Bachelor shows are definitely a guilty pleasure, so holler for Bachelor In Paradise!

The ladies in my bible study started reading Anything and it really makes me think about my life and decisions I make & those to be made. She is so real and honest that it makes me feel better that I am not the only one. One part is really sticking with me and it is a section on risk. How can I live a life without risk? Do I not trust God? Will I live my life to the fullest? The questions are beautifully haunting and having me thinking. What are you willing to risk to grow closer to God and trust the path he has laid out for us?

This weekend is go time. Mike and I will be in a packing frenzie and running around to grab last minute items for Hawaii. Next Wednesday after work we will be driving to Houston and I don't know if I will be able to sleep before our flight out on Thursday! I seriously want to take all of my "funny" books, aka Tina, Mindy, and Amy. I still need to go out and buy #girlboss for the flight... let me add that to the list real quick. This also might be the flight that I actually buy the WiFi. 7+ hours is worth the fee. Time to binge watch! Any show recommendations? On my list of next shows to watch I have: The OC, Gossip Girl, House Of Cards, Gilmore Girls... The Office re-runs:)

Two-a-days have been kicking my butt. The Texas heat is no joke. We went running right after work one day and I went from being drenched in sweat to not sweating at all. My body was shutting down, which is not funny, but I was doing all that I could to keep my head up and focus on Mike in front of me. I was joking in my head that I was chasing him like a brownie on Whole 30. Maybe I was going crazy?! This weeks meals will consist of chicken and veggies. Basic, boring, booty kicking. Lean and mean here I come. Minus the mean.

I think that is all that is new with us! We are just looking forward to next week's vacation and have major tunnel vision. Is anyone else watching tonight's finale??

The Petal Post

I feel like I have been a little quiet here, but it has been for a good {great} reason! My step-mom and I have always loved doing floral arrangements and absolutely fell in love last year while doing my cousin's wedding. Right after her wedding we were ready to start a business, but time got away from us and other things popped up.

Earlier this year we did arrangements for baby showers and my brother's graduation and that is when we realized we wanted to take this from our hobby to a business. Flowers are our happy place and we make a great team, so we did it! We created The Petal Post and are officially open for business! We do everything from event floral to diaper cakes and wreaths. I am so happy to be able to share this new venture with you and would love to help you create the look you are wanting for any upcoming event! Please feel free to contact us by email at thepetalpostdesigns@gmail.com with any questions!

currently...

  • Craving and acai bowl from Revolucion and a French 75 from Luke. Both of these, individually, could fall under the category of "Best Thing I Ever Ate/Drank".

  • Dying to read #girlboss. This has been on my list for a bit now and I almost bought it today during the Amazon Prime sale, but chickened out. I am thinking this would be a good Hawaii read.

  • Wanting to watch Grizzly Man. We have a vendor lunch recently and he went on and on about this documentary. On and on in a good way, to the point that I wanted him to just tell me the whole story. Now all I need is someone's Netflix info to watch it:)

  • On my list to buy is a new bra and sports bra. That might be a little TMI, but I love how pretty and sweet this lace is and a sports bra is just a must. Victoria's Secret has done the trick from me, so I will be heading that way this week.

  • Drooling over this altar. Fun fact, this is at the venue I got married at and the photographer that took this pic was at TXSC and I got to listen to her speak. Fun fact, I'm drooling.

Let's Hit Some Goals, Y'all!

These past two weeks have flown by! It's already July?! In exactly one month, Mike and I will be in Hawaii! Ahh! I have a pile of clothes ready to be packed and my mind is already there.

{if you need me, this is where i'll be}

Life has been pretty great lately, with some fun things on the horizon. Mike and I are starting two-a-days today to push ourselves a little harder for the up coming vacation. I am looking forward to it while knowing there will be days that I will need the extra push! For this, I am keeping a strict work-out journal with notes from each day. I plan to also keep track of my moods and how I feel, so on days where I am down I can look back and see how far I've come. The morning workouts will be lifting and the afternoons will be cardio and circuit training. After this July 4th weekend, we are both looking forward to this!

I have never really been one to "treat" myself with food. Instead, I like to spend it on myself in other ways. Here are a few things in my "treat" pile as great options for hitting my goals:

Shop- new work out clothes, shoes or jeans. This is always a fun one because it physically shows you your change.

Massage- with all that lifting and life stress, this is a great one to release all the tension. This is going to be a major treat:)

Get yo nails did- this is an immediate confidence booster for me and makes me feel put together. A definite treat!

A fun date- this doesn't have to be to a nice restaurant or revolved around food. It could be to the river, a local park, the movies, the beach... anything fun that we can do together and still being active.

A new bathing suit- this falls under shopping, but is a category all to its own. This is the true test for me. If I feel confident in a swim suit then I feel on top of the world!

Just looking at this list makes me excited to get started! I need to decide if I will have weekly treats or bi-weekly. My mind says weekly... but lets see what the Mr. says:)
