The Petal Post- Viola Ranch Open House

I just want to throw it out there that I am currently listening to tons of Christmas music, staring at a beautifully decorated Christmas tree, and listening to Mike talk about our plans for December. I can't believe how fast this year and the month of November has flown by. I am beyond excited about the holidays, but sad that 2015 is coming to a close.

But 2015 has been a great year! I mentioned here that I started a floral business with my step-mom and it has been an overflow of love. We both fell in love with floral when doing my cousins wedding in 2014 and this past summer decided to turn it into a business. We had an open house a couple of weekends ago and it was a great experience! It took up our entire weekend, but it was worth every moment. We connected with quite a few brides and had a chance to talk to all of the other vendors there. That venue plans to have another one in February and I can't wait! The Petal Post was in charge of decorating 4 center tables to showcase our centerpiece work as well as a few arrangements on our booth. Each table had a different theme: mercury glass, glass, rustic stands, and lanterns and wood. The morning of the open house we had a photo shoot with brides and our flowers and it was such a good feeling seeing our flowers being photographed:) I can't wait to share those pictures!

Here are a few pictures we took that night:

I hope you are having a great Monday! To see more of The Petal Post, follow us on Instagram @thepetalpost and on Facebook!

A Belated Birthday

As previously mentioned, this week has been a whirlwind. So much so that I even forgot my own blogs BIRTHDAY {11/9}!! Tears everywhere. Thank goodness she is forgiving.

This blog has been a large part of my married life. Sharing what we love, do, and see is a great blessing to us and it has been so sweet to go back and look through our posts. I started this blog as a way to keep family and friends informed of what Mike and I were up to as a newly married couple. I never thought I would enjoy writing, mainly because being forced to write essays in school was never fun, but I really love expressing my personality through writing in this space. One of the best things has been friends and strangers coming up to me and talking to me about a recent post, or knowing something we did because they read it here. I love TLD and am so thankful for the TWO years. HAPPY {belated} birthday, sweet blog!

As a sweet treat, I thought I would share our Halloween picture. We were our favorite people, of course. I present to you, Jim and Pam.

Sickness and Family

You know when you have all the best intentions in the world... but then sickness happens and knocks you off your rocker? Yeah, that was me the past few days. I had every intention of blogging, Instagramming (The Petal Post has a 100 days of creating challenge and I am now officially a few days behind), reading, but none of that has been able to happen. BUT, the one positive is The Office. I spent yesterday on my butt watching tons of episodes laced with naps. I truly believe that show cures all. And look at me, I'm back at work.

Every year, sometimes twice, we take family photos with my Dad's side of the family. My step-mom, God love her, runs around {last minute} trying to coordinate colors and style and makes these photos an event. I absolutely love them because it has been so fun watching our family grow over the years. First it was the whole family, then just the kids, then the dogs were added (Mike and I were dating but he was behind the scenes in charge of the dogs, ha!), then Mike was added (cause he put a ring on it!), and we have been evolving ever since. This years event was the most stress free one to date. I think it's because I attended the mall with Cara and made the decisions. Short and sweet, yes and no. We all collaborated and met the photographer on time. Mind you, our photographer has learned that she has to "lie" and say the pictures are an hour early so we make it there right on time. It's great. We had a blast and love this time of the year when we all come together, actually try, and bond while doing it. Here are a few behind the scenes pictures of what's to come:)

I'm Back!

Wow, I think I have been gone long enough! Time has been slipping by and I am trying to manage too  many things at once. But I am finding balance and loving life along the way!

A lot has been going on since my last post. I have:

Had a weekend staycation at the JW Marriott in San Antonio with the fam
Saw Lauren Daigle in concert (her voice was even better live)
Traveled to Colorado to have a girls weekend
One of my besties got engaged!!
Went to Round Top (HUGE antiques fair in.. Round Top)started Gossip Girl on Netflix
The Petal Post has grown substantially and weddings are a boomin'
Mike and I are starting to dabble in the house hunting world
We have started and fallen in love with Crossfit
I have done two back to back Whole 30s
Mike is loving Narcos.. and might have just finished
I have a stack of books that I want to start (just finished The Husband's Secret).. but GG is getting in the way
Rearranged our apartment
Fallen in love with homemade almond milk

Lots has happened in such a short amount of time. To be honest, writing a post seemed really daunting. I feel like a lot of that had to do with writing the Kauai post, which I still haven't done. I want to make sure I capture all that we did with every detail and the thought of writing that has been overwhelming. I still need and want to do it, but I'm starting with this re-introduction post:)

So that is what we have been up to. I have missed this space and filling it with our to-dos, travels, and life. I am back, people!

31 Days Of Prayer

My friend sent me this article today and I thought I would share.

In our first year of marriage I read an article talking about lifting up your spouse in prayer. So many times people (myself included) get frustrated and pray for change to happen within their spouse, but this article said quite the opposite. It is you that needs a change of heart. Just because you grew up one way and them different doesn't mean their way is wrong. Just because they want hold on tight to the purse strings when you're ready to buy something needed doesn't mean they don't want it as well. The list could go on and on. Changing them does nothing but create hardness in your heart and that is not what God wants for your marriage. Pray that God changes your heart. That  you can see their side and value what they bring to the table. Pray for patience in times when  you know you're about to get frustrated rather than praying for them to change. We cannot change the one we love, but we can make change happen within us with prayer.

These daily prayers for our husbands are inspiring and make me want to out serve my husband. He is always telling me how he prayed for this and that and reminding me to give thanks for all of our blessings. These prayers are a great reminder that we are the help for our husbands. He stands tall leading our family, but we are the support and help for that. These prayers are so needed.

Two Years

Time really flies when you're married to your best friend. Mike and I are celebrating our two year anniversary today (and all of last weekend) and it seems like we have always been married. But in an odd way it seems just like yesterday that we said "I do".

A lot has changed since we started off. Our apartment has been filled with more trinkets collected from our travels, my make-up collection has grown due to actually putting in time to make myself presentable, and I have realized, still, how selfish I can be. But Mike is always there to remind me that we are a team, and though we don't always agree, we always make decisions together and have God as our rock. Minus the Hawaii trip, I just told him I bought tickets (insert monkey covering its mouth emoji).

This weekend we talked about how we want to have a goal for each year of our marriage. We talked about what big changes happened in year two and we decided that was the year of Paleo. Our lifestyle and eating habits got a face lift and Mike and I are much happier now. As for year three, this will be the year of getting in the best shape of our lives. We have plateaued with our workouts and are wanting to more direction. On Thursday we have a one-on-one with a cross fit gym and we couldn't be more excited. We have the eating down pat, so here's to pushing our bodies to another level.

And a note to you, Michael. You are the biggest and best blessing. I thank God for the cheap entertainment that you are and for patience that you have to drive all around town to get me a good cup of coffee. I am blessed to have a man that loves palettes as much as I do and will hop on a plane tomorrow if I have tickets (after I email your boss to say you need to take some PTO). Thank you for being my earthly rock and the leader of our little family. I love you, always will.
